What This Photographer Did Will Give You A Brand New Perspective On Where You Live

With the term "wanderlust" becoming somewhat of a buzzword, we often forget that our hometowns can host some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. People in the rolling hills of Ireland long to see the Manhattan skyline, people in Manhattan travel thousands of miles to see the French Riviera, and locals in Marseille want nothing more than to dip their feet in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. It seems as though everyone yearns to see all the beauty this planet has to offer without noticing the incredible sights that they pass by every day. That's exactly why Canadian photographer Trevor Pottelberg challenged himself to capture the beauty of his homeland in an eye-opening new series. This visually stunning project was born from a sense of frustration. ...

When The Sun Goes Down, These Pieces Of Art Completely Transform

Bizarre, Entertainment
Many great artists have stood by their claims that there's a double meaning behind every piece of artwork they create. Art is usually left up for interpretation, so we may never know exactly what went through these artists' minds when crafting their greatest achievements. And adding a hidden or deeper meaning to your artwork doesn't just happen in the classical art world. Some creators are taking it to the street. The art of graffiti has historically been treated as a nuisance. Now, however, street art is elevated. The hidden messages in this art collective's work, for example, come alive at night. The talented graphic artists at Reskate Arts and Crafts have been decorating the town of Zaragoza, Spain, with elaborate murals fo...

Japanese photographer FUKE transforms the world into a colorful wonderland by just using his camera.. He starts by capturing images of ordinary places around his home in Sanuki and then, as he writes on his website, he "makes his own colors with his feelings and his emotions." In an interview with Life Treasure Collector earlier this year, FUKE elaborates that he was inspired to take up photography in 2003 when friends would visit him and comment on the beauty of his town. It's the kind of natural beauty that usually goes overlooked by those who see it every day. He decided to highlight the features of his town in an incredibly creative way. By shooting snowy landscapes at night, he creates an other-worldy aspect to the otherwise "b...

The Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod just got a bit fancier with the addition of a nine-story surreal mural by street artist Rustam Qbic. Entitled "Blossom," it shows people reading books while their heads bloom into flowers. Despite the mural's springtime imagery, Qbic spent eleven days braving snow and freezing temperatures to complete it. Street art is awesome. I'm not referring to a vandal spray painting genitals on the side of a McDonald's or anything like that. But when an artist takes advantage of his urban surroundings to create art anyone can appreciate, well...I appreciate it. Here are ten epic examples of street art done very, very right. 1. Storm drain located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 2. Keyboard made from bricks in Brussels, Belgium. 3. Graffiti removal...graffiti by Banksy. 4. The leaning tower of Pisa in Philadelphia. 5. Spiderman using a crack as a web, located in Germany. 6....

Salavat Fidai gained a reputation for being seriously cool when he started creating sculptures from pencil tips, and luckily for us, he's at it again. What makes Fidai so unique is that he can turn just about anything into a canvas, and when he saw some pumpkin seeds one day, he knew exactly what he needed to do.Using tiny paint brushes, acrylics, and a variety of small seeds, he created a collection that you have to see to believe. Fidai wasn't always a professional artist. In fact, he had to lose his job as a lawyer to really harness his craft. Salavat Fidai "I was a lawyer near Ufta, Russia, when I was laid off," he writes. "Rather than find another office job, I devoted myself to art. I can now support my family by selling these miniatu...

It's fun to think of your favorite characters as though they were everyday people. You can even imagine what they'd do if Halloween was right around the corner. That's exactly what artist Isaiah Stephens was thinking about when he created his Halloween series. It features some beloved Disney characters donning other iconic outfits for what we can only imagine is a pretty amazing, if fictional, Halloween ball.  Rapunzel as Sailor Moon Isaiah Stephens I don't know about you, but it looks to me like Rapunzel's been pregaming. Remember going to the circus and asking your parents for a balloon animal? Remember how you had to choose between a lame poodle or an even lamer hat?  You could get a sword, which sounds cool, but - come on - it's just made out of balloons. These balloon animals are like that... but on mounds of acid.  Imagine going up to the balloon guy and asking for a phoenix stretching his mighty wings to protect his princess or a sleeping angel on a heavenly bed of clouds.  Here are some choice pictures of the World Balloon Convention this year: A balloon sea king riding his balloon sea horses around his balloon sea kingdom. This guy must have eaten some bad seafood. Why, he's blowing up like a balloon! ...

Plenty Of Artists Use Colored Pencils, But This Creator’s Approach Is Totally Unique

Entertainment
When it comes to medium of choice, plenty of artists will tell you that pencils -- monochromatic or otherwise -- are their favorites. The level of detail that you can achieve with these pointed beauties is top-notch, which is why artistic realists the world over swear by them. While most simply sharpen their tools of the trade and put them to paper, this creator takes a less conventional approach. Instead of using colored pencils to create art, Tuomas Markunpoika turns them into art. Vimeo / Tuomas Markunpoika Even if you're a culture buff, you've probably never seen anything quite like this. And there's more where that came from! If you want to see the rest of Tuomas Markunpoika's work, be sure to check him out on Vimeo. Read more: ht...

Spanish artist Lorenzo Durán has spent the last four years creating works of art from one of the most abundant materials in the world. We see these materials almost everyday for most of the year, until they are driven away by the cold winds of winter and sent packing to the dump. What am I talking about? Leaves, of course. :) Working out of his home in Guadalajara, Lorenzo focuses primarily on cutting intricate illustrations from dried leaves. Tattoos aren't something that people should take lightly (but unfortunately do). That's because tattoos are, basically, permanent. Unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars to get them removed, the ink you had injected into your skin is there for good. Ever get a tattoo, but regretted it after a few years?  These people certainly did. Whether it be the name of a former lover, or just a really awfully drawn tattoo, check out how these people corrected their less than stellar tattoos. Some of these cover-ups would take serious talent. That's much more impressive. I think that did her more justice. Well, that's a fancy dinosaur! She looks...

Dutch artist Ramon Bruin has an incredible talent in making his art really come to life. His hyper-realistic drawings are all done in such a way as to give off an optical illusion when arranged and photographed in the correct way. Making it appear as if the art itself is floating on or standing out of the paper. Take a look at some of his 3D creations below: The whole thing looks like a painting. I bet there is a hungry crocodile lying in wait under the page, ready for a meal. Looks like they are walking right out of the wall. His work really comes to life. That belongs on a motorcycle tank. ...
